The stories never ended with the first sighting. Sailors who survived one encounter spoke of something larger waiting farther down, in water where even the Kraken fears to hunt. Most dismissed it as fishermen talking. Those who’ve felt a rod load up at a thousand feet know better. Because some monsters are bigger than the legend.
The Witch Doctor Kraken HD (Heavy Duty) was built for the fights the standard Kraken was never asked to finish. Designed for the deepest drops and the heaviest bottom fishing, it starts with the same powerful graphite-glass blended blank, then reinforces everything from the reel seat forward. A heavier tip diameter and a stiffer tip section give it the authority to drive hooks and move fish at depth, while still telegraphing the bite through 1,000 feet of braid.
The rod’s 7’0″ upper section has heavy-duty ALPS guides and finished with an ALPS roller top and swivel, keeping line flowing clean under load and letting heavy rigs spin free instead of twisting your mainline. When fully assembled, the rod measures 8’0″, giving you the length and leverage to lift from deep water. Rated for braid up to 100lb and sinkers from 16oz up to 6lbs.
Whether you’re dropping for big grouper, tilefish, swords, and amberjack, working heavy electric reels in strong current, or sending baits past where the standard Kraken belongs, the HD is engineered to take the abuse of true deepwater fishing. Every component was chosen to absorb punishment and hand it back as lifting power.
Some things below the boat don’t come up easy. The Kraken HD was created for anglers who intend to bring them up anyway.
